Styling the Self

Around 2020, I began taking styling seriously for myself, approaching each outfit as a fully realized creative project. I would curate looks by sitting with my thoughts, planning every detail—from clothing and accessories to props, backgrounds, and the story I wanted to convey. Often, I would create or customize the pieces I wore to achieve the exact vision I imagined. Drawing heavily from my Latin heritage, the nostalgia of 2000s fashion, innovative restyling, and upcycling techniques to prioritize sustainability.

 

Skills Demonstrated: Personal styling, creative planning, fashion upcycling, prop curation, visual storytelling, outfit conceptualization.

 

Looking Inward: This project strengthened my ability to approach styling as a form of storytelling, where every detail is intentional. It also reinforced my commitment to creativity, sustainability, and designing with purpose.
